In almost impossibly rough waters on lac Leman, a day that saw hometown heartbreak, spiced with a myriad of race lead changes, mistakes and a surprising podium finish, made this a very memorable racing day in France.
A truely brilliant victory by a multiple world champion set the stage on the treacherous waters of Europe's largest alpine lake, but it was the action behind him that had everyone talking all race, including, maybe one of the best race re-starts in the history of the sport to spice things up as well!
On a steamingly hot day in southeast India three drivers finished less than four seconds apart after 44 grueling laps! It was a race of survival both for the pilots and their equipment with eight of the 18 drivers dropping out. Two rookies earned their first championship points while one young star came from back earning “drive of the day” with a fine top-10 finish when it was all over!
A razors edge less than six seconds separated the top-5 at the end of 48 laps... in one of the closest finishes in years! Who would make it to the podium at days end. A Great way to kick off an historic 2019 campaign!
