F1H2O

ABU DHABI - Thursday, 2 May - Swedish racing star Jonas Andersson and the country of Azerbaijan have once again formed a business relationship as Team Azerbaijan in pursuit of their goal in making the popular 38 year-old driver from Fruvi, Sweden World Champion for the first time in his career.

The partnership, comes just in time for the start of the historic 2013 UIM F1 H2O World Championship for powerboating, which marks the 30th anniversary season of racing. The campaign opens up on the South American continent for the first time at the Grand Prix of Brazil on 1-2 of June in the capital city of Brasilia.

"It's great being back with the Azerbaijan people again," said Jonas. "It's like the "family" has been put back in place again and with their help and sponsor Avesta, we are going to be a lot more aggressive in all our efforts and really go for a title this season that I can guarantee you."

Andersson Racing will have two of the latest Danish Molgaard boat hulls at their disposal with a totally new designed boat ready by the season's second race in Kiev at the Grand Prix of Ukraine.

The seven year veteran has 57 career starts in F1 H2O with four victories and 11 podiums to his resume in his 33 race finishes. The Rookie-of-the-Year runner-up in 2006 is just one point shy of 300 total points in his F1 career which ranks him 15th all-time on the circuit.

The two time F2 World Champion, who earned his awards in back to back seasons in 2003 and 2004, will also be supporting that series in 2013 along with adding a new F4S driver in Nicklas Friberg of Sweden to his team.

The father of three, who started racing in his home country back in 1998, earned his first F1 career win back in Doha in 2008. Jonas would later go on to win for a second time that season on the Neva River in St. Petersburg at the Grand Prix of Russia.

Jonas will try to rekindle the spirit of Sweden's success in the sport being one of four different Swedish drivers to take victories in the tours history.

With the help of his business partners in Azerbaijan, the lovely country of over nine million people on the edge of the Caspian Sea, 2013 could be Andersson's most successful and memorable season ever in his career.

The story will unfold shortly as the curtain comes up in a month's time as the UIM F1 H2O World Championship Series opens up it's new season at the first annual Grand Prix of Brazil in the capital city of Brasilia on 1-2 of June.
