ABU DHABI, U.A.E. – Monday, January 31, 2011 –With the 2011 UIM World F1H2O Championship due to kick off in early March, the full driver line-up is nearing completion and there are few surprises in store. Reigning World champion, Finland’s Sami Selio has a new partner in his Mad Croc team, Massimo Roggiero, who also incidentally builds the BaBa boat that Selio won the title.
Runner-up in the 2010 championship, Qatar’s Jay Price has also got a new team mate, Alex Carrella who proved a sensation in his first season in F1 last term, as a member of the Mad Croc brigade. China’s line-up has not changed from 2010 with Pierre Lundin and Philippe Chiappe representing CTIC China. Abu Dhabi also feature their 2010 duo, Thani Al Qamzi and Ahmed Al Hameli and this term, they are hoping for a gold medal after coming so close for the last three season.
Duarte Benavente of Team Atlantic will be driving a Dragon outfit that has been upgraded to a 2011 specification and it is anticipated he will be joined by Philippe Tourre. Despite rumours that he might retire after a disastrous second half of the 2010 campaign, Francesco Cantando has decided to continue in his quest for gold. Fellow Italian Fabio Comparato has decided to take a year off but will still be involved with Team Nautica as Team Manager. Norway’s Marit Stromoy is a confirmed driver in that team but a second driver has yet to be announced.
There is no news of Jonas Andersson, Fabian Kalsow or Tomas Cermak’s plans but Davide Padovan will again be flying the Rainbow flag.
