ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, April 10, 2010 - For the second straight year, the promoter of the UIM F1 H2O World Championship for powerboating Nicolo di San Germano will officially announce the four nominee's for the annual Hall of Fame “Lap of Honor” Award at the scheduled press conference and gala dinner this Saturday, April 10th in Abu Dhabi.

The evening event will begin by introducing the upcoming schedule for the 2010 World Championship. that salutes special person's over the 50 year history of the world's most recognized powerboat racing series followed by the candidates for the 2010 class for the Hall of Fame.

“Our series officially started in 1981, so this year marks the 30th year since the beginning of the championship which makes 2010 something special,” said San Germano. “We have elected two great people last December in our first class in Renato Molinari of Italy and Bill Seebold of America and now I see the 2010 candidates to be just as worthy of nomination.”

Again this year the choices of candidates were long and well deserving to be offered a place in the “Hall of Fame” and again this year the honoree's will be elected by a split vote between the media members from around the world who cover the UIM F1 H2O championship and the general public who go to the official website of the series www.f1h2o.com and cast their vote. The top two vote getters will be elected into the Hall of Fame and be introduced to the world at the final event of the season at the Grand Prix of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates in December.

All candidates will get a two year window of opportunity to enter the “Hall”. So, if they fail to get voted in the first year, they will then be transferred to the ballots for 2011 as well. If they fail to get elected the second year, their name will be removed from consideration for the following year.

“We realize that this is a complex sport that has many talented and special people that make up this series that puts on the most exciting show on water anywhere on the planet,” said Nicolo. “It's time that we honor not just the drivers who were hero's but place in nomination people who behind the scenes were hero's as well that made a real difference in expanding this sport over the years to what it is today, that's what makes this award so special.”

The nominee's will be placed on the website for general fan voting in the near future.
