MARIT STROMOY HEADING TO CLASS 1 IN RIO THIS MONTH!

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates – Monday, March 8, 2010 – UIM F1 H2O World Championship driver Marit Stromoy has been invited to join WELMAX Offshore Racing two boat team and compete in the opening round of the 2010 UIM Class 1 event on the 26th thru the 28th of March in Rio de Janeiro for the Grand Prix of Brazil.

The 33 year-old native of Sandeford, Norway who now makes her home in Oslo, will be running one of the teams MTI or Maritimo designed boat hulls powered by Mercury V8 power plants.

She'll be joining fellow Norwegians Jorn Tandberg, Kolbjorn Selmer and Italian Giorgio Manuzzi. The team won't finalize it's pairings until they arrive in Brazil.

Marit, spent last season with the Azerbaijan Team alongside teammate Jonas Andersson of Sweden, who finished fifth in the World Championship while their team finished third overall in the championship with 155 points.

Marit had two top-five finishes along with nine top 10's to earn 37 points in 15 race starts and finishing 12th overall in the UIM F1 H2O World Championship for 2009. She will be the first woman to compete in Offshore Class 1 racing in over a decade. The UIM F1 H2O family wish her nothing but the best!
