Wednesday, 30 September, LIUZHOU (China): Team EMIC's Marit Stromoy is confident that the team has all the elements in place to deliver a strong performance at this week's Grand Prix of China, 1-2 October.
The Norwegian's brilliant pole position in Portimao in 2011 and her best career finish in fourth in Abu Dhabi in 2013 may be a distant memory but she knows that she is capable of a podium finish and says her passion for racing and the sport is greater than ever. "Things haven't gone our way lately but not for lack of effort. With changes to the boat comes a period of fine tuning, fix and improve one thing then another issue, steering or fuel related, for whatever reason presents its self.
"What we have done to the boat gives me a huge increase in pace. Yes in some conditions we have to give it back at times and work harder but that's racing. I am absolutely sure that on our day and it all comes good we will be on that podium. We just have to make it happen."
When not out on the competitive circuit her passion extends to promoting the sport back home in Norway, bringing young drivers up through the ranks, fulfilling her commitments to her commercial partners and introducing the public to the thrill of being in a race boat with upwards of 500 trips a year in her two-seater. "We are a small company and we are all working non-stop around the clock to put us in the best position to compete. If the passion wasn't there I couldn't do it."
Stromoy is currently in 10th in the championship standings, teammate Christophe Larigot in 13th.
