F1H2O

EVIAN, FRANCE - Saturday, 27 June, 2015 - The weather god's played a heavy hand for the second straight Grand Prix of the 2015 UIM F1 H2O World Championship season when strong west winds combined by large swells cancelled the final Q3 "Shootout" until tomorrow morning on Lac Leman.

The drama came to a resounding end when Emirates Team driver Ahmed Al Hameli blew his boat spectacularly in the final minute and one-half of Q2 in his hopes of reaching the top-six and a chance to go for pole position on the six-pin highly technical 2.08 kilometer circuit.

The crash ended the session and with officials huddled, it was decided that the final Q3 session should be held in the morning when according to the weather reports a better "window" should make the two lap one driver at a time excitement a certainty.

The final six pilots still chasing the top step in qualifying are led by Finland's Sami Selio of the Mad Croc Baba Racing Team who did a 56.08 second tour. The only other driver to run a sub-57 second lap was American Shaun Torrente of the Victory Team and a 56.45 time.

Kuwait's Youssef Al Rubayan of F1 Team Atlantic was third with a 57.13, Italian Alex Carella of Team Abu Dhabi did a 57.50, while defending World Champion Philippe Chiappe of France driving for the CTIC China Team managed a 57.66 second tour.

The sixth and final driver who still has a shot at pole with the Q3 "Shootout" session is Swedish driver Jonas Andersson for Team Sweden who put together a 57.72 second lap.

Just missing the chance to earn a shot at the top-six beside Al Hameli was his teammate Erik Stark as the Swede finished eighth with 58.31, while Jesper Forss also from Sweden managed a 59.44 with Filip Roms of the Mad Croc Baba Team finished the top ten times with a 59.44

The run for pole position and Q3 will be scheduled for a time to be confirmed tomorrow morning with the 19th Grand Prix of France starting at 15:00 Local (13:00 GMT) and can be followed by going to the tours official website at www.f1h2o.com with the world television feed being made available as well.
