Looks Forward To Continuing UIM Cooperation!!
LAUSANNE, Switzerland – 12th of January, 2007 – UIM F1 World Championship promoter Nicolo di San Germano praised his relationship and overall cooperation in making powerboat racing the fastest growing “speed sport” in the world today when he saluted the resigning UIM President Ralf Frohling of Germany who has held his post as UIM President for almost two decades.
“I have known Ralf for over 20 years, since the time when he was UIM commissioner in the F1 World Championship, at the time, was organized by PRO 1,” stated San Germano. “The President of the UIM was Francesco Cosentino and the General Secretary was Jose Mawet. Ralf took over with the sudden death of Mr. Cosentino.
I have always considered Ralf Frohling as a friend in the world of powerboat racing, even during out last 3 years when we have had some differences on a few points regarding the development of our sport.
I am sorry to learn that for health reasons he has to give up the Presidency and I would like to personally send him the most sincere wishes on the part of all the Formula 1 family.”
Ralf, who has had a very successful business in both publishing children’s books and developing children’s toys, began in powerboat racing as a driver and was very successful running 500cc hydros. His involvement with the international governing body of the sport, the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) came as a translator. Having studied and being gifted in speaking many different languages, he was asked to keep communication at a very high level despite the multi-national nature of the UIM organization. He quickly moved his way up to the top wrung to the Presidency in his 22 years of work with the organization.
“Ralf has been involved in racing for many years and has made the UIM and brought the popularity of this sport up to what it is today,” stated UIM Senior Vice President Charles D. Strang. “He has done this with style and we salute him for all his hard work over all these years.”
The resignation of Ralf Frohling took place on January 10, 2007 and is effect immediately. The reason given for his departure of his post was based on recent health problems and advice by his doctors.
According to UIM By Laws 5.2.3. the vacancy for the remainder of his mandate will be filed by UIM Senior Vice President Charles D. Strang a 40 year veteran of the sport based out of the United States of America.
