KIEV, Ukraine - 19th of July, 2012 - The 2nd Annual Grand Prix of Ukraine kicked off it's Grand Prix weekend with a scheduled official Press Conference today attended by a packed room of worldwide media representatives to hear Idea Marketing President Nicolo di San Germano along with the Kiev Regional State Administrative Chairman Anatoliy Prysyazhnyuk discuss the present state of the Grand Prix event and what the future can bring along the vast complex built along the Kiev sea in Vyshgorod.
"Kiev has become the best venue of any emerging market in the family of F1 H2O race sites," said the Idea Marketing President. "The whole team here has in one year turned this race place into one complex the rest of the world can look up to. We want Kiev to be synonymous with powerboat racing as Indianapolis is to auto racing and Monza is to F1 motor racing.
"Eventually it would be fantastic for this vast area be turned into a multi week "Water Festival. This event could then attract a steady stream of spectators for multiple weekends and various events such as Class-1, Nations Cup and Aquabikes on the water as well."
Joining the management at the front table were a pair of drivers who are tied for second place currently in the UIM F1 H2O drivers championship. Frenchman Philippe Chiappe and Alex Carella of Italy both have earned 27 points after the first two Grand Prix's. Both Chiappe who drives for the CTIC China Team and Carella with the Qatar Team are looking to improve on their results of a year ago when Phillipe was ninth and Alex was fifth in Kiev.
The Grand Prix Qualifying and Grand Prix race are scheduled for 18:00 local, 15:00 GMT and 11:00 EDT on the East Coast of North America. The one hour qualifying tomorrow can be watched live on the worldwide television feed by going to the official website www.f1h2o.com.
